PROJECTED WATER SCARCITY AND WORLD POLITICS,

Post by niranjan on Mon Sep 19, 2016 8:47 pm

PROJECTED WATER SCARCITY AND WORLD POLITICS,

Its estimated that there would be a global water scarcity by 2025 , where two types of scarcities are projected , ie Physical water scarcity which will result major threat and burden for governments to supply water for survival and economical water scarcity which will pose a threat for industrial usage and agricultural usage where water would be expensive and possible to be expansive than fuel !

Most of the African , Middle east, Asian countries , Fareast countries, and Australia would have economic and physical water scarcity where Sri Lanka will be one of the very few countries that will be self-sufficient in water , we are so fortunate but do not know for how long !

Sri Lankans will have water for domestic usage and industrial and agricultural usage . The Martine and aviation industry will use Sri Lanka not only for its strategic location but for the supply of water and food at competitive prices . Sri Lanka being self-sufficient in water would have the next cutting edge advantage where unfortunately sufficient attention is not given , there should be a mechanism to educate public and policy makers, protect our water resource.

India will have a major water scarcity and the only option would be to strategically acquire our waters considering we will be self-sufficient. which may also be one reason why India is trying to get control of Sri Lanka , by ensuring that we will have a weak constitution in future and short sighted leaders who will give in to their demands and deprive our citizens of opportunities we are gifted and protected for generations.

The underground tunnel proposed by India and the ETCA too may have long term hidden agendas and high time a public awareness is created to ensure that we protect our resources for our future generations whilst taking advantage of the opportunity for economic prosperity .
